Tag it, title it, and organize it visually in buckets labeled for my job role, or even for me personally. Add links to community of practice forums on the topic so learners can ask questions and pursue deeper knowledge. Don’t do that to your learners. Learning maps and role-based portals can help, as in this example.

Thankfully some schools are now adopting this approach through for example, APP - Assessing Pupil Progress , or PLP - Personal Learning Plans. There is a great deal of cross over here with personal learning environments (PLEs) of course, particularly in relation to user generated content and sharing within a community of practice.

Recently I have been considering the changing role of teachers who are adopting technology to extend the walls of the classroom. We are connected educators, linked in to a number of powerful global communities of practice, and we have access to resources, dialogue and audiences we would not enjoy in a traditional learning and teaching role.

The theory views learning in terms of participation in a community of practice , and considers knowledge to be highly dependant on its context. . Andragogy focuses on adult learning, and it adopts a strong constructivist perspective.
