Apple recently announced the availability of  Mavericks , its latest and greatest operating system for the Mac computers.   As much as I love new toys, I tend to hold off when it comes to installing software updates.     It turns out that the Mavericks software and Adobe Captivate 7 aren't getting along.

First, quit Captivate and then open your Mac's System Preferences ( Apple > System Preferences ).    And here's another issue that's been reported: when attempting to create a software simulation on a Mac, the red recording area doesn't show up (meaning you really can't create the simulation).

Sense I still use Graffle as a diagramming tool (Mac only). Though I’m intrigued to try Apple’s FreeForm, in recent cases I’ve been editing old diagrams to update, and it’s hard to switch. Apple’s Keynote is also still my ‘goto’ presentation maker, e.g. for my LDA activities.

I tried Safari and Chrome on the Mac side, Internet Explorer on the Windows side. Luckily, we have Apple Care so I was able to get some assistance direct from an Apple tech. From the Apple menu, choose Go > Computer. I tried wireless and Ethernet internet connections. Nothing seemed to resolve the issue.

I do a lot of work in Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 on the Mac by using Parallels. To reset your shortcuts to the way things worked previously, you will need to adjust your Mac's Preferences.
