Preparing as we are here at College for the transition to Moodle 2.4, Given the number of Smartphones owned by our students, having a reliable means of scaling Moodle to a mobile client has a very strong strong appeal for me. Just into a new round of vle training in Moodle. The problem appeared to be that if staff were slow to take up use of the vle fairly soon following the training, they seemed to loose confidence and I found them returning to the course again the next term or later. We have now completed the rollout and trials.

Award for market share - Education and Government Learning Management Systems - Gold award: Moodle (the Platinum went to Blackboard). It seems that the LMS/VLE distinction is either dead or UK-specific.

The idea, is that now teaching staff are beginning to make more use of the vle, which after all is really little more than an e-Learning delivery platform, they should now start to think in terms using it deploy and track learning activities rather than just as a means of distributing course notes, which so often is how these systems end up.

If you are running a repository, just register with Oaister and then each week or month, your content details will be updated in the systems catalogue. The last couple of weeks including the usual half term have certainly been busy given that we took the opportunity to move a Moodle vle from a Linux to Windows platform. Being a merged college as we are, we now have two instances of the Moodle running on a single server and it all seems to be holding up extremely well.
