Trade Show Circuit 2013

On the vendor side, nice set to select from although on the freebie side – always is lame. Vendor Angle. A must for any e-learning vendor. That said, vendors have found the show overall to be a mixed bag. mLearn Con Mobile Learning Conference & Expo. M-Learning focused.

Even with products that are typically classroom based – some were including mobile learning capabilities. If I was to place an estimate on it – it would 50% e-learning. Sales training – It was huge, especially with mobile learning and gamification products. E-Learning 24/7.

Mobile Learning. LMSs – Finally vendors took notice. Sadly though many still are in the dark on true mobile learning – i.e. not accessing their platform via a mobile web browser. Authoring Tools – With only a small sample of vendors that are SaaS based, pickings are slim.

Learning Management Systems. Built-in help desk – It is on the rise and I expect it to continue into 2013. While many vendors pitch mobile learning they seem to be stuck on the idea that people are not interested in online/offline synchronization. A couple of vendors told me they think it will be a fad.

Right now, at m-learning vendor locations around the world, especially in the RCAT space, they should be scheduling meetings and coming up with a new perspective and approach to their products. For LMS vendors, adding “HTML5 feature sets makes sense – especially if they are adding mobile learning components in their system.
