Before SCORM, there was AICC, but its functionality was very limited and it’s virtually obsolete now. It allows you to gather much more data on users’ learning, including exactly how they interacted with the learning, how they scored in separate activities and how this tied to their real-world performance too. I found that if people knew the trainer was an employee, the scores tended to be higher – due to the fear that the person would be fired if the scores were low. Other fun tidbits AICC was the leader here, then came SCORM. Many folks running training and L&D, also saw the Five straight down the page.
