Here’s some content that spans the past decade or so of rapid e-learning. Since PowerPoint is linear and doesn’t offer tracking logic, it requires a lot of slides to create the illusion of movement and branching complexity. The same content goes from 154 slides in PowerPoint to just 18 slides in Storyline.

In this example, the images all need to be wide, but short rectangles so that I could get them about the same height as the text and squeeze them as close as possible to the button stacks in Rise 360. I present at a lot of conferences and workshops. Live Transcriptions & Closed Captions in Google Slide Presentations. Here’s an example of live transcription and closed captions in Google Slides. I find the transcription on Google Slides is a lot faster and a bit more accurate than in PowerPoint.

I’ve been working on interactive scenarios for a few upcoming workshops and created some background images that we’ll use to build interactive branched scenarios. The free download includes the original images as well as a folder with images cropped to 16:9 so they fit perfectly in 16×9 slides.

And here are a couple of silly examples where I use the free emojis as a way to offer hints on a slide and as a way to provide right and wrong feedback. Of course the example above is silly, but you could find more creative and appropriate ways to use these free assets in your e-learning content, especially if working with a younger audience.

Start by selecting the clip art image, ungrouping it, and making the customizations you need. I also like to save the new image as a.png. I try to stick with the same image style and remove all of the background items that make clip art look like clip art. Create Characters by Pulling Them Out of Stock Images.

In the most common case, the first slide is a course menu. Menu Slide. Add a trigger to change the state of the module button to complete when slide starts on the condition that the variable for that module is equal to true. Module Slides. Instead of your normal click next navigation, you use icons to link to the slides in the course. The second idea is less about elearning and more about mobile learning. What I’d do is treat each screen the same as a slide and then use clickable icons to reveal the course’s information. The conference is open to all.

They’ll help you save time the next time you build a rapid elearning course. Create textured backgrounds by layering transparent images. Creating the avatar is simply a matter of uploading an image and then applying the settings so that the mouth and eyes are detected. Considering how fast it converts the images to speaking avatars, I’m pretty impressed with the overall quality. Instead of a static image, you have a talking head. Create an Animated Avatar.

Click here to view the elearning template. If you want to succeed at rapid elearning, you have to develop your PowerPoint skills. Create in PowerPoint and then save the images as graphic files. But adding an image, like a wood panel in this demo, looks really nice. Notes on Creating the Template. Most of us don’t.

If you look at the images I recommended and the images I used in the course, you’ll see that I didn’t use the images I recommended. That’s where my earlier tip to find an image pack really works. That’s not ideal.

Share Your PowerPoint Slides to Twitter & Facebook. I used to convert my slides to images and then tweet the images. However, Microsoft has a new app that lets you share your PowerPoint slides and files via Twitter and Facebook. You can also send PowerPoint slides to Facebook as an image, album, or video.
