What I like about conferences is the ability to see the latest products and hear the pitches from the vendors. Yet, for all that do it, their are equal number of vendors who do not. Ability to tie in Social APIs, regardless if it is Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, Nextdoor (cool, but no one is doing it) and so forth. . API integration – yep, either the vendor has open APIs or they can accept any API – and have it work with their system (usually a fee, but that is besides the point). Social Profiles.

In my latest directory, 393 LMS vendors – global, of which 34 or so are open source systems. In a market this size, and with so many vendors overly focused on the U.S. and not necessarily worldwide (which should be the case), there is bound to be those vendors who are seeking new opportunities. It was a myth.

Sure, other vendors will say you can do that too, but you have to open each object file to get it. Mashups, Google charts. Many vendors hyping PowerPoint to Flash angle as key feature. 57% offer a trial at various length, this is significantly higher than any other e-learning tool with over 40 vendors in the market.

Just some thoughts that puzzle me on why some LMS/LCMS vendors (okay over 98% of them) are still in some time warp from the Eighties when it comes time to enhance their services and technological solutions.
