The learner could listen to the audio if her preferred style was auditory, OR read the text if her preferred style was visual. This means that I learn best through my visual channel, next kinesthetic, with audio being my weakest channel. I always tune out the audio and read ahead.

PowerPoint – Ability to integrate or use PPT in your courses. Some vendors push heavily on PPT, implying that a great WBT is really a PPT converted to Flash. In the latest podcast featuring Volkner Zimmerman who is on the executive board at IMC-AG, he explicitly states that HTML5 is necessary in any course output for mobile. Screen capture, audio editing. More vendors seem interested in PPT, then having this as a spec in their product.

Feature sets – they have to be more than PPT to Flash or add an audio clip and video clip to the course. Built in audio, image and video tools, enables this to be a one stop service, thus eliminating the need to use Camtasia and alike. . Can add HTML5 audio and video (SWEET!). Very nice set of features including multi-track editing, ability to publish not just to YouTube but also Vimeo, picture in picture and audio scrubbing.

Podcast capability – every LMS should have this feature. Resources – docs, video/audio files, podcasts, PPT, etc. In 1982 a film called Tron appeared on the silver screen. It was without a doubt one of the most hyped films of all time. I remember seeing the ads, being excited about the possibility of such a movie with never before seen computer graphics. The line to get in was long. Chatter was everywhere. Anticipation was running high.
