To understand the history of the LMS, there are five items that drove it. CBT Prior to online learning known then as WBT, and then the latter term of e-learning (vendors today, use it to refer to content that is online), there was CBT. CBT was the “new” and exciting way to learn.

Surprises in E-Learning One of the biggest surprises, is that so many folks are unaware that e-learning was an umbrella term, as I noted in the History of the LMS post. Vendors use it to refer to online courses/content. On top of that, they misspell it – the term is e-learning.

Respondents were from all size of companies, education, higher education, associations, non profits and other. Do you have a LMS/LCMS/Learning Platform. Back in the early 2000′s, LMSs often had content mgt features built within their system, but called themselves learning management systems. 69% said yes.
