I thought about this, as you can tell, and said to myself, okay, let’s write a post where the e-learning history and thus learning systems, authoring tools, and alike are intertwined with good and bad ideas. Computers weren’t fast enough to play video, nor were the hard drives large enough – even though the brochure for my stock IBM AT said it contained a “whooping 20 MB hard drive” – so we used a videodisc player connected through a serial cable. So how did her students learn, even thrive, using such primitive technology?

April's Big Question from Learning Circuits is "How to Keep up?" However, being involved in an e-learning community is a big help. This is in reference the immense and rapidly expanding technology tools. It is tough to stay on top of all the emerging tools. For me it is a blog community and following many experts on Twitter.

It borrows much of the Microsoft Office look and feel, including the ribbon interface, so it's easy to learn, but inherits none of the limitations. Apart from games, e-learning is one of its last remaining niches. Authorware was a serious tool that you could use for serious projects, but with a friendly interface.
