Can Captivate 9 Save Adobe?

Specifically, they released their learning management system and Adobe Captivate 9. Perhaps the more exciting news though is the release of Adobe Captivate 9. I have a confession to make: I have a love/hate relationship with Adobe Captivate. Adobe took over Captivate around version 3 or 4 (I cannot recall which one exactly).

The idea of a rapid content authoring tool, whereas anyone could build a course quickly was appalling to everyone who built courses.

Back when I first started developing e-learning courses, I used Macromedia's Authorware. Almost every course involved using Flash for interactive elements (animations, games, quizzes, simulations, video, etc.). For more interactive elements, I used Flash and imported the SWFs into Authorware.

Adobe Captivate - Fantastic for creating simulations (software sims and branching sims), plus it does a good job recording audio for your sims. Windows MovieMaker - Editing videos prior to using them in courses.
