I am currently in the process of developing a series of eLearning courses that are part of a blended management training program. At this point, I have 3 of the 6 courses complete. Here are some factors to consider; the majority of the courses require the learner to submit a project for completion.

It's no high powered LMS, but it will let us create all kinds of assessments and track the scores. I think that by using Quia assessments and games along with power point shows, reading assignments, and conference calls we can construct a low cost distance education course. So that's the plan!

I uploaded all of the necessary files produced by Camtasia to Moodle then created a link on the course site to the html file but received a strange error when opening the link. All the articles say that a crucial part of the LMS selection process is writing a quality RFP, but nobody goes on to tell you how. In my case, it is for an LMS. The biggest benefit I have seen for writing an RFP is that it forces us to think about what we really need in an LMS. Do we really need an LMS at all?

The instructions in the Wiki served as a great reminder of what they learned in the eLearning and instructor led courses to get them through the tough times. To address this issue I implemented a help forum on the organizations Moodle LMS where learners could go and post their non urgent questions.

Until now, I have only experimented with moodle and have never had to worry about SCORM when publishing courses. This comes in perfect timing for the eLearning courses I am working on for a management training program. So, I decided to take the leap and try and figure out what this whole SCORM thing was about.

Senior Management recognizes e-learning as an opportunity for our training dept to take a giant leap forward and more importantly, achieve a better ROI on our training efforts. That is of course until we hit a slump in sales. As sales go down, so does the training dept's budget which is bad news for my e-learning project.

The reason I believe SCORM tracking may be the culprit is because I have had nothing but success with flash based eLearning courses that do not use any kind of SCORM tracking. The only difference here is that I am using a zipped SCORM package as opposed to a standard.swf file.

Once my experimental Moodle installation is back online I will be forging ahead by customizing the theme and setting up a course for an instructional design class I am taking in the Ed Tech program at SDSU.
