Learning Rebels

In this next segment of the DevLearn 2014 reflections – Learning Rebel, Andrea May of Dashe & Thomson, gives us a great peek inside her world of being a first time DevLearn attendee. This time around as I registered to attend DevLearn 2014, I decided to go in with a slightly different mindset. One of the strengths of the eLearning Guild, in my opinion, is securing exceptional keynote speakers for their conferences and DevLearn 2014 was no exception.

eLearning Trends That Will Fizzle, Sizzle, or Simmer in 2014

Bottom-Line Performance

Storytelling in Training: This trend/topic that began peeking its head out last year, and seems off to a roaring start in 2014. Agile development: This one got very hot in 2013, and I think interest in it will remain strong in 2014 and beyond. I think 2014 will have it burning brighter – but for very specific uses, not broad use like “Click NEXT to continue” did in eLearning. I think this one could go from simmer to sizzle at some point in 2014.

Bottom-Line Performance

Many of the “2014 eLearning trends” being touted as new by various websites are really just recycled from 2013, 2012, or earlier. What’s really significant in 2014 is not so much the “hot new trends” coming to be, but rather a collection of several trends, technologies, and opportunities that have come to be over the last few years starting to coalesce.
