When I work in Storyline, I often use the TTS voices for the alpha version. That automatically generates captions that can be retained when replacing the audio with real voices, but again, the captions break awkwardly. I do both depending on the project. I’ve used them before on a project.

Whether I would use Twine, Storyline, Rise, or something else depends on the project and the goals. You can download it or use the browser-based version. It’s also much easier to do audio in Storyline. If I can get Twine to be polished enough, I can remove that whole rebuilding process for many projects. .

Captivate developers have been able to add background audio to their projects since Captivate was known as RoboDemo. The process of adding background audio hasn't changed much over the years. Use high-quality visual design and audio (if narrated). Some of these have 6 options, which is too many for a branching scenario, but a smaller version of the model could work. Take time to get the script right in the beginning, and check it with every change to make sure all the branching paths still make sense. Is it immersive?
