I don’t think anyone would have predicted that SCORM.com would see a 62% increase in site traffic in 2020. While interest in SCORM skyrocketed, the appetite for more modern standards like cmi5 and xAPI continues to grow, particularly within the Department of Defense. What I can say is that CMI-5 expresses learner activity using xAPI, which gives systems a consistent way to express the things people do. CMI-5 is an important extension of xAPI in that xAPI doesn’t specify how content should be launched (including a lack of authentication in that scenario), so cmi5 fills a crucial gap.

When see the template you are going to be like “this is a lot of features and categories, no vendor will complete all of this.” Vendors who gripe, clearly have never experienced a 10 page or more RFI/RFP (and high page RFPs are common). . Some vendors are very open on what was the initial data set, others less so.

Oh, and not the first vendor I’ve seen this route, but that was more than a decade ago. There are vendors who pitch they have it, and there are folks who oversee L&D who still believe in it. There are vendors who show it as a playlist or offer multiple playlists. One Term that Should be Kicked to the Curb.

And yeah there are vendors who will taut that they are in X list or Y rankings and thus should be included. You want marketing, I know some sites that will list you. These are vendors who have been around a long time, build share of the market and generally speaking had early name recognition which has helped them in build business.

Awards coming out from analyst firms, sites, and anywhere and everywhere. Bookmarklet extension is good, and was for a time, the first vendor in the LXP market to have one, it has fallen behind the two leaders. Degreed to me, is the vendor who is close to going more of a talent development system. Definite a player to come.

Course standards are course standards, and yes, you have the option to select CMI-5 and xAPI. xAPI as my top three. PENS is nearly non-existent in this segment and CMI-5 is extremely new and few vendors have it – expect more in 2019. Most vendors in the LEP segment have this. Machine Learning (AI). I’ve heard it from vendors. Many consumers, I surmise are doing it already without even realizing it, and even some vendors are too. Preferably on/off synch, but as I mentioned in my LinkedIn mini-post, most learning system vendors still are not on/off synch with said mobile app. An app is often listed as a mobile app.

There are LMS vendors who believe they have found the right solution to these concerns. . Should I as a vendor add it? If I was an LMS vendor I would definitely add it.

Rather than go into a whole diatribe about CMI-5, I recommend you read this info on CMI-5 (put together in part from vendor RISC). Standard adoption takes time (as we can see with xAPI), so if you are concerned or worried about having to go with CMI-5, etc. As such, I will go with the proper term of xAPI (now and going forward).

comparison of a system that focuses on SMB vs another that is SMB, rather than SMB vs. 50,000+ employees; equally, someone focusing only on B2B/B2C should be compared to other vendors only focused on B2B/B2C and not say comparing an internal only system to one that is B2B/B2C, because there will be some functionality differentials).

There are I believe a wide variety of factors that are a cause of this, and one I see right away is the failure of various authoring tool vendors to their new customers and/or customers who already have content and want to go e-learning, is the lack of education. Course standards include xAPI and PENS, besides the standards of SCORM. . They have partnerships with a few LMS vendors whereas you can purchase their courses via that LMS. I am aware of at least one vendor who includes five courses at no additional charge into their LMS. Best Custom Course Provider from an LMS Vendor.

Certifications are doable from big name vendors such as Amazon, Google, Cisco, Microsoft and more. Share Link – I debated about listing this in poor, because I still see zero value in this – other vendors do it too, and I see zero value in that as well. Percipio though can accept AICC, SCORM, xAPI and CMI-5 (win!).

For folks who use their product, I was told by a salesperson that xAPI is not on their radar, nor is any type of on/off synch mobile app. . It is over. I’ll keep you posted. The Worst.

Maybe you scored it via Wiley, but in many possibilities you purchased the content thru your LMS vendor. It’s much easier than say going directly to the content provider, buying it from them and then having them talk to your LMS vendor to put it in for you (which, honestly you should do, because it will save you money).
