Student, Teacher and Parent portals – It goes without saying on the student and teacher portals. As such, do folks really want parents to have their own portal? My personal favorite is the ability for the teacher to leave audio and video feedback to the students. Parents are a mixed bag.

A surprisingly number of vendors who offer some form of social learning, whether it is the minimum – a FB like page, micro-blog, even some form of app sharing or collaborative tool, do not have any social media on their site. No social networking sites, no social bookmark sites, no app sharing sites, no video sharing, nothing.

As for personal and professional development, it truly amazes me how many vendors in the e-learning space as a whole, forget this type of training. The courses were 100% online, SCORM compliant, with video, audio – including recording your voice and comparing to the speaker. Guess what? Other – 14.2%.

I have been privvy to see the inner workings of their mLearning studio, including the output of HTML5 video in a course, and it frankly is impressive. Once Articulate launches, I suspect you will see a greater swath of vendors adding it to their feature sets. So, you now have an open marketplace with a social learning twist to it.
