The most recent release of Captivate allows to use those assets in two different type of projects: either a full VR project, or on individual slides in a normal cptx project. As I built the slides, I wrote the slide number by each node of the flowchart for future reference. To produce the slides and SWF, I used Keynote 08 ( not Keynote 09! ). I often disabled that option when embedding SWF’s on my blog (look at older articles), especially when audio was involved because it is not very polite to have audio being pushed to the reader automatically. All embedded HTML movies in my blog were using this type.

Presenting Event Video with Portable Network Graphics and JavaScript

My solution was similar, though I used a large page-sized PNG with a window cut in it. However, if you don’t use a Skin, the video will automatically play when the user navigates to a slide. The solution I found was to “pause” the video on slide Enter using JavaScript in an Advanced Action. Controlling Playback with JavaScript.

Since I have spent some time to work out that solution, I also discovered that it could be very useful in two situations that are often mentioned as failing in the normal Captivate design: To show the user an oveview of answers on a test with Knowledge Check slides : which anwsers were correct/incorrect? Checkmark – multistate object.

Library? Which Library?

Even when you delete the items from slides (stage), they will remain in the Library and can be reused. These are the default Library folders: Audio : will have all audio clips, whether imported or recorded in Captivate; whenever you edit an existing clip, the original and edit clip will be in this folder.
