Callidus Software acquired Rapid Intake, a great content authoring solution. Rapid Intake will stay as is – name, feature wise, etc. If you haven’t heard yet. OpenText purchased Operital, a LMS based in Australia. At this time, Operital is staying as is – i.e. name.

Rapid Intake – Hasn’t really done anything in the last several months. Mobile comes via MP4, but no Tin Can support. I walked away saying WOW. Why isn’t? Lectora on the list? Not a top ten IMO. Solid product but frankly there are a lot of products that beat it. At one time very forward thinking, now run of the mill.

How about – Litmos actually skinning the product themselves – as the majority of vendors do – at no additional charge or more simple click customization options. Currently, Litmos does not offer the ability for online/offline synchronization with a mobile device.

Q: I use Articulate, Rapid Intake and other 3rd party authoring tools, will they work in any LMS? Others focus on the talent management with these features either included or an additional cost. I love this trend, because it clearly says that the rapid content authoring tool vendors are becoming innovative and are seeing the market. Rapid Intake mLearning Studio is near launch. But, this trend although it starting and grows, the products that you can buy today are very limited.
