I laugh, remembering Art History 101 in college -- a darkened lecture hall, slides projected on the wall, me falling asleep in spite of myself, sometimes even snoring. Imagine how much less sizzle theres be if you substituted "lecture" for "podcast" -- the former is antiquated, 20th-century thinking; the latter is hip, even if you have to use a USB drive instead of a real iPod. On the other hand, if youve been subjected to enough typical corporate training, you expect to be lectured, and you can feel somehow cheated when that doesnt happen. Listening aint learning. A lot harder work for the lecturer because they have to guide and mold the unstructure so that it works. With the online session we had set time limits for topics but I gained so much. Messy training - definitely. Much easier to have structure and sequential in a LMS but the power of the messy so much better.

And as a former student myself, I know my best "style" for listening to a lecture is to take notes and lots of them. . @ Jean -- I understand how a learning styles approach works in the classroom. As a teacher, its important to present info in different ways to get to your different students.
