In addition, she indicates if they are free or cost money – which is not quite the same thing as open source.

You create something that has value and gets traction and yet you've created it in a way that the software is considered "free." Thus, you may starve working on your labor of love.

Learning Object Tools

It cites quite a few repositories and briefly mentions " Burrokeet is an Open Source Software tool that assists in the creation of Learning Objects from existing content. There is also a bit of language barrier. I pointed them at the Wikipedia article - Learning Object. This is something I'm not familiar with.
