I’ve seen several posts related to the SWF output and the lack of browser support or simply having issues playing them. I also have a number of projects that were published as SWF from old versions of Captivate. In many cases, all I have any longer is the final SWF. The post What about all those old SWF files?

NOTE: For the sake of consistency and ease, I’m going to use Captivate 2017 as my platform, but the concepts I’ll be discussing have been around for many previous versions of Captivate and the methods haven’t changed much. So let’s jump into it. There are a couple of different ways to accomplish the objective.

Since I follow the forums daily (and moderate the Jive forum for Captivate) I have seen a lot of threads appearing about version 10.0.1.285 where AutoPlay is automatically disabled for all HTML output, not only for responsive projects like in previous versions.

I have been choosing it many years ago (with version 1) for that feature as well. Sorry for my cynical attitude, had many discussions with authors over that type of articles. My first idea was to post this as a discussion, but in the past discussions didn’t have any success at all. It is a normal cptx project.

It is perfectly possible that not everyone will agree with my point of view and I would welcome all discussions. If you want to publish a project to be accessible from any device, you have to ignore the still available Captivate SWF output! Responsive Project with Breakpoint Views is available since version 8. Though widely discussed as ‘end of support’, the reality is that the cut-off date for Flash will be more of a killing blow. For example, in Chrome : Individual Flash Player items have been off by default and asking permission since version 55 (December 2016). On mobile, Flash hasn’t received official support for nearly a decade.
