It’s actually a fun, little, techy fact : Apple’s calendar emoji shows July 17 to mimic their Calendar (iCal) app which shows the same date, which was in turn was chosen because iCal was introduced at the Macworld Expo on July 17, 2002. Now, most of the Calendar icons across platforms (Google, Twitter, etc.)

The OpenCourseWare Consortium had been in operation since 2002, and continued to expand its database to offer a range of free online course materials from MIT.

The main difference with the new release is that the interface is moving from the Office 2002 paradigm of menus and toolbars to the Office 2007 paradigm of tabs and ribbons. While we didn’t get to see all of them, they did show how to quickly add an RSS feed, a twitter feed, and a functioning Google map.
