They involved talent management, “hello and goodbye” with vendors, social learning, upswing in mobile learning, new feature sets in the authoring tool space, flat lining in web conferencing and standalone platforms. LMSs/LCMS/CMS/learning platforms in commercial and open space continued their presence.

TechKnowledge 2012 – Post Assessment

Last week, I attended TK 2012 in Las Vegas. Nice selection of vendors – in general. Zero web conferencing vendors – I guess business is booming for you – the economy clearly is not playing a factor. Custom development shops coming up with all sorts of names for what they actually do. Product Time.

Very few LMSs offer online/offline synch with a native app – heck, online/offline synch in general, but pitch that they offer mobile learning. . What they really mean is that you can view the LMS and courses via your mobile web browser. . Too me, that is not truly mobile learning.

billion dollars in revenue – Q3 2012 (Engadget, 2012). I loved the term that vendors started to push in 2012 and continue to do so in 2013 – “scalability” It makes me laugh. What is great about the apps and add-ons is that you can offer a CRM, web conferencing tool, video messaging, etc.
