PENS is nearly non-existent in this segment and CMI-5 is extremely new and few vendors have it – expect more in 2019. Don’t worry though, I have that feature in Reports/Analytics ( time tracking). This is something that is being seen with some LMS vendors actually, and it should be something with LEPs.

While this has been happening for quite a few years now, my “greater increase” comes in terms of the analytical data that can be extracted from assessment results. Robust data analytics – which is ideal. Most tend to be proprietary, but I have seen a few that are SCORM/AICC and yes even PENS. Bottom Line.

The minus: vendors come out of the woodwork to tell you their system meets those needs. No vendor could say honestly that their system is the best for you, because they are missing a lot of information. Write vendors’ names on pencils and throw them at the ceiling. Whichever sticks – is your vendor.

Course standards include xAPI and PENS, besides the standards of SCORM. . I will say that I’m not a fan of the analytics angle, because it opens up the approach that you could use the system in a somewhat manner of an LCMS or mini LMS (many SaaS authoring tools follow that path – and I dislike that too). Compliance – but just because a vendor says they have it, they be turning items that really aren’t into something that works. Built-in authoring tool – If you are expecting something like Storyline, forget it – not there yet; unless vendor has a partnership with an authoring tool vendor – example: Claro.
