Again, not every tool below is SaaS based, but at some point, you have to move to the SaaS world, especially if you are offering or saying you do – some type of mobile learning functionality. I’ve seen some authoring tools that fit most of the criteria above, but whose ease of use is substandard or even really bad.

Update June 2008 - added one free flash quiz tool based on a question I received. This tool is listed at the bottom. They didn't really need tracking of user responses, instead they wanted them to be fun. I suggested a couple of tools, but then wondered if I had given them the best list of tools.

Earlier we’ve mentioned some tools that can assist you in mLearning applications. However, each one needs a fair bit of knowledge and skills before they can actually implement solutions using these tools. Here are some authoring tools that claim to let authors develop content targeted at mobile devices.

They currently provide some podcasts and video casts, but would like to track the new content that is being developed now. I’d have to think a bit more to have a specific suggestion on the course authoring tool for this, but should be easy enough to do this. The tracking would only be that they did a portion.

You can use either your own 3rd party content authoring tool and upload it into the “Cloud&# and then wherever you are, output either to your LMS, or onto Moodle or even WordPress (they have a plug in for that) OR place the course in Facebook or nearly any solution that accepts APIs. This is ironic, considering that the rapid content authoring tools, LMSs & Learning Portals offer quiz/assessment tools and target the corporate market (and not academia or or not just academia). All these tools are free. Free Quiz and Test Maker Tools. Software in the “Cloud&#. Download Software.

Technical problems, like unstable internet connection or unresponsive training tool. Even if you’ve invested in the most expensive training tools and learning materials, your remote training will still fail if your learners aren’t fully involved, engaged, and motivated to learn.
