Frankly, I am a fan of it, but if you are going this route than offer the following: Multiple tracks of video – rather than a track or two. Ability to convert various types of video formats to other video formats. Those who do offer both Flash and HTML5 are missing a simple and essential item to their arsenal.

Format Factory lets you convert media from one format to another. I don’t use it as much as I used to now that Articulate’s Studio ‘09 provides a video encoder. For Studio 09, Articualte added Articulate Video Encoder ‘09. This tool converts video files to FLV for inclusion in courses. If you don’t already have the Flash Video Encoder (which comes with Flash) then this tool will be useful. It works fine, I just prefer Flash Video Encoder.

I thought about Captivate, but that only exports Flash movies (SWFs). I thought about using special video converters to get to the output formats I wanted, but I was worried about what all this processing would do to the quality. I couldn't do this with Articulate. In the end I went for Camtasia 5. This worked fine too.

Basically, they came up with the questions, I did the answers, we debated a bit, the whole lot was videoed, edited, converted to Flash video, assembled into an FAQ using Articulate Engage and then uploaded to the course website. This time it was a 'conversation with' session with a group of instructional design students.
