There has been some threads in user forum about the connection error which learners get in Slide Video. Some background Info: When you insert video into Captivate as Slide Video, it by default is configured to be progressive download. You can verify whether your server setting is OK by using any FLV player like this.

When I try to put the video onto the slide, I get the following message: Failed to load the video file. If I click yes, I get the following: Cannot get FLV duration from the metadata. This file may not work properly with the pause slide till end of the video option. The file path or the URL may be invalid.

This would be especially useful for talking head videos, that are describing or anchoring the content on the slide. In a workflow that mimics the 'audio editing with slide preview' workflow, now in Captivate 5 you can import any video, and synch the Captivate slides or objects on a slide to be in step with the video.

One can preview the video before inserting into the slide or scene. Select the video you want to use and click Insert to add it your slide. Multiple videos can also be selected and inserted into the slide. These file formats are natively supported in Storyline: FLV, MP4, SWF. Insert a Video from a file. Click Insert.

As you know, Captivate has two different video features : Slide Video and FLV Object (details here ). Custom Configurations : More configurations (URL / Delivery type change etc) can be done after the initial import : For Slide Video , the settings can be changed from Menu: Video > Video Management…. Protocols used.
