Google Forms. Collect data : Because it’s a survey tool, Google Forms automatically collects data on responses and provides charts. Without requiring an LMS or even login, you can build and share a branching scenario that collects data. Free : Google Forms is a free tool, and many educators are already familiar with it.

One idea Nick Floro shared in this session was to use Google Analytics to track usage data on courses. I’m so used to thinking about just the data in the LMS that I hadn’t considered adding that little bit of Javascript to enable Google tracking for aggregate usage data.

My list is divided into personal learning and course design/development. Personal Learning. Feedly is my RSS reader of choice since the demise of Google Reader. Diigo automatically generates my ID and e-Learning bookmarks posts. Moodle is the LMS used by several of my clients. Diigo is my social bookmarking option.

As in 2009, I’m going to divide my list into personal learning and course development. Personal Learning. Google Reader is still my main tool for personal learning. Google Search has never been on my list before, but it really should have been. Moodle is the LMS I use most currently.

A Google search for “instructional design remote work” returns over 15 million hits, so there are things out there. Some LMS vendors have teams to create custom elearning using their systems (Blackboard is a big one). That kind of flexibility in schedule and place will be a way to attract employees moving forward.

I’m also organizing my list into tools for personal learning and for developing courses. Personal Learning. Google Reader is my main tool for personal learning right now, as it’s the hub where everything I read comes in. I’ve also learned through editing and updating articles. Developing Courses.

In January, we officially launched Sakai as our LMS , marking the end of a long process of choosing the right system and converting all our courses.
