The Latest: Rapid Content Authoring Tool Market

eLearning 24-7

The RCAT (rapid content authoring tool) market continues to be healthy with nothing to slow it down – uh, except maybe one thing (more on that later). Yeah, I know we have just jumped into January, but in a review of the past several months, authoring tools continue to follow a similar path amongst themselves with certain feature sets. I am still surprised on how vendors who are offering assessment only tools are staying in the game.

Certainly with the rise of rapid e-Learning tools and the increase in SME-published content well start to see an increase in the frequency of updates to e-Learning material. We need to find out what tools our clients use and what systems they have in place. Well need to advise those clients on what tools they should be using.

The IMS Global Learning Consortium has announced the release latest version of the IMS Learning Tools Interoperability Specification – Version 1.1. SCORM vs. LTI: what’s the difference?

Rustici Software

If you’ve been familiar with Rustici Software for a long time, you’ll know we’ve helped people for a long time with SCORM and xAPI. It stands for Learning Tools Interoperability and it is a standard created by the IMS Global Learning Consortium. With LTI, a learner logs into an LMS (what is referred to as an “LTI tool consumer”) and typically selects a resource link to play a course. There are technically five versions of SCORM : SCORM 1.1,

Cammy Beans Learning Visions: Half of Companies Blocking Facebook

One real problem is corporate fear of social networking tools. Im no Facebook super-user and I havent experienced a huge time suck from it, but I suppose its possible. Cammy, Im just a "lite" Facebook user, but I have seen profile pages that list their workplaces with commentary about how horrible their company is, or how much they hate their job. So Im not sure the issue is people leaking secret information, but maybe just companies afraid of being bad-mouthed.

The IMS Global Learning Consortium have focused on these standards in particular.

My point is this: I dont think Im that unusual.
