If you choose By author , Word automatically assigns each person who comments on the document a different color. However, if you send the document to someone else, they will see whatever color their copy of Word is set to display. So get control of your balloons, and get a good review of your document.

It seems that he had sent out a document for review. He had carefully followed the procedure for protecting the document for tracked changes, and he had sent it to four people. In Word 2007, that is found under Office Button > Word Options > Popular. On most documents, that tool is grayed out as unavailable.

They are writing their corrections on a printout and later making the corrections to their document. I recently taught a group of accountants who each had two wide-screen monitors set up in portrait orientation so that they could view two legal-size documents side by side. Do you fax or email or walk your documents around for review?

Even if a reviewer of the edited document wanted Power Point to be printed with a space, you would not allow it, because PowerPoint is the proper name of the software. Although newer versions of Word (2007 and beyond) track and link moved text, you still have to first move, then edit the text to see any tracked changes within the moved text.

You have a Word document and you need multiple people to review it and get back to you with changes. Here is an overview of the two programs' tools for reviewing documents. It attaches your Word document to an email message. You send your document to multiple recipients and ask them to review it using Track Changes.
