And then many organizations force draconian template rules on all elearning courses, regardless of their purpose. Of course this was disastrous when it came to some of our elearning courses. I think my resistance to using music in courses may have something to do with the notion of music not being taken seriously in a learning environment. Back in the mid- to late-90s when we were designing rich, multimedia courses that were delivered via CD, we used a lot of video (talking head) and audio. Dont think so. Take the Survey!

In a recent post we looked at ways to build interactive elearning even if using PowerPoint to build the courses. Use as many layouts as you need to build your course. Come back to a course three weeks later and you’ll have to spend a lot of time trying to remember which objects have links and where they go. Use Multiple Layouts.

When building rapid elearning with PowerPoint it can be a challenge to get away from linear courses. So building linear, info-centric courses tends to be an easier way to get the projects out the door. In that sense, we can determine what the tools let us do and then figure out how we can use that output in our courses.

How interactive is the course going to be? That way at least at the end if the initial estimates have been wrong you can say we are "x pages too short" or "if you want that extra content in the course it will be x pages to fit it in". Fantastic question about estimating course time. What would you add to this list?

They think that only they should be able to create and deliver courses because they apparently have some sort of special training.
