Some vendors like to stretch this out, but for reports (depending on what you want), the data more often then not, already exists in the system database – so they merely have to create/generate a report that can pull that information for you and then integrate it into your system. Even one time open source systems are starting to offer hosting for an additional cost. I now pronounce you Authoring Tool and LMS, you may now integrate/interface. From a LMS vendor perspective there are a lot of pluses. For vendors who offer unlimited, I am sure it is doing well for you and is a big positive for you.

I have seen continued interest and downloads for open source AR tool kits. GestureTek develops motion control for tablets, e-readers, smartphones and televisions. Expect a few commercial vendors to jump into the augmented reality space for e-learning. Actually it already has with some end users.

The way to just avoid this garbage is to have the vendor give you a 30-day sandbox to test the functionality of the system with your content/courses. Assuming all open source is free.

There are vendors who have incorporated or integrated with ADP and Taleo, while others have struck deals with those two companies. Toss in the integration of ERP solutions (Peoplesoft, Oracle, SAP, Workday) and HRIS systems into the mix and you will see why this is growing. ERP and HRIS integration will play an important role.

The course they show you uses educational terms, not corporate terms – which is funny since the product i.e. integration with Salesforce.com is purely corporate. What you should never do.
