Perhaps the subject matter expert had created them?) Im not sure if the SME was reading a script, reading the notes, or just speaking from the heart. Something like 60-70% of the learners preferred the rough version, created by the expert. It makes a great impact when you have a expert speaking. So thats one version.

wait, Im getting verbose. The expert teacher takes the boring content and uses good metaphor or analogy to make it interesting. Cathy Moore urges us to chop the basic fluff out of the course. Stick to the meat. Dont restate the obvious. Dont teach the learner what they already know. Dont go over material theyve already been taught.

Basically, they want an expert to tell them how and what to train. There seems to be a mix between contract and full time positions, and Im not sure how to read into that. Ive worked as a technical writer for a long time and am seeing a drop in that area and an increase in instructional designers. #2

Weve taken scenario-based approaches, so the learner can sit with an expert and watch how he does his job using the software. The next project Im about to take on is going to be more of a just-in-time performance support tool. Im thinking that teaching in a scenario-based mode (e.g., Good stuff in your other suggestions, too.
