LinkedIn is the quickest option if you are not technical and don’t want to deal with setting anything up. First, it’s not on your business site, so you’re splitting your identity between your business website and your LinkedIn profile. If you do use LinkedIn, keep copies of all your content as a backup. Diigo is my social bookmarking option. LinkedIn is increasingly a place I find useful conversations and resources, especially in the groups. I just checked my stats, and I currently have 320 subscriptions and have read over 8000 items in the last 30 days, and over 300,000 items since February 2009. Course Development.

An informal poll in a LinkedIn group showed that most IDs and eLearning developers are already trying to represent diversity in race in the images in their courses. Race and Images.

I also spent about 15 minutes moderating my LinkedIn group ( eLearning Global Network ) and accepting LinkedIn invites. Throughout the day during transitions between projects, I do other social media (Slack, reddit, LinkedIn). I often do some social media and email right after lunch as well.

I have often turned email or social media questions into blog posts. After all, if I have already written a paragraph or two on LinkedIn, that’s a good start on a blog post. Clark Quinn has gotten several blog posts from recent social media conversations on general learning myths and on combating the learning styles myth.

Now that I’m doing freelance, I basically am not doing any marketing other than my blog and being active in groups on LinkedIn. I think using social media and contributing to the conversation (not just lurking) is really valuable. In both cases, they were people who contacted me because of my blog, and not something I was seeking out.
