Top Five Tips to Create Accessible Content. Alt text, also known as alt description or alt attribute, is a textual description for non-text elements on the screen, such as images, graphics, photographs and drawings. If there is no alt text, the screen reader will simply say “IMAGE” with no frame of reference. Null/Empty.

Our final text formatting tip is to left align your text to prevent unnecessary eye jumps. If you don’t include any alt text all users will hear is the word “image”. You should write alt text for any visual objects that contribute to your story, such as pictures, graphics, videos, and charts/graphs.

There’s nothing more frustrating than blurry pictures. While you can try tinkering in a photo editing program, or shrinking the image and crossing your fingers in hopes that no one looks too closely, the best strategy is to start with crystal clear pictures. It was probably a low resolution image that wasn’t intended for print.
