This was my third TK in a row to attend, and as usual it contained some WOW on the part of some products, some “huh” on others and even a few “boos” Overall Expo Analysis. Nice selection of vendors – in general. Wi-Fi worked a lot better, but vendors and end users still had issues inside the expo hall.

I am still surprised on how vendors who are offering assessment only tools are staying in the game. Assessment/Survey/Polls – If your product doesn’t have it – you need it. I hope it does – especially with SaaS products. PowerPoint – Ability to integrate or use PPT in your courses.

Collaboration – How much longer are AT vendors going to push this out as “new”? Lots of Templates – No longer satisfied with ten, now many vendors are offering extensive list of templates. HTML5 output – Any vendor that doesn’t add HTMl5 output should be green with envy. Right now, not amazed.

The downside to training management products is the inability to upload any other 3rd party authoring tool or courses from an off the shelf vendor.

You can try to figure out about the product via the company’s web site, but many sites honestly are beyond awful. They fail to even clearly show their product, let alone present the product sans the standard PPT intro that comes with “learn more” about the solution. Right product?

You work online via the servers of your vendor. I had thought that this trend would be dying out, but it is amazing at the number of vendors who are entering the space and still focused on the desktop approach. Vendors who are already in the SaaS only space, should continue to offer features that maximize its power. Same thing.

That said, there were some hiccups and from an entire vendor wise (expo here) angle, some unique and some, uh. This year, I estimated a 55/60% e-learning, including some ILT vendors offering some type of e-learning component. . I see way too many vendors think a web site is all they need and people will find them.
