The two big ones in the market are Articulate Storyline and Adobe Captivate. You can find free tutorials on YouTube and other sites. Paul Wilson’s YouTube channel has numerous tutorials. Articulate’s online community and forums are very active and helpful. Matt Bibby also shares tutorials.

I have a published example below, as well as a step-by-step tutorial. I got the idea for the folder graphic from a great Photoshop tutorial on how to create a folder. For this demo, I only used a few of the Photoshop steps to keep it simple. There’s a lot more detail in the free tutorial below.

Aviary Phoenix is a more robust application and close to something like Photoshop with the layering and more complex editing capabilities. 15 Articulate Studio 09 - Until I see what 2013 can do (and it is about to be in beta), Studio sits at number 15. Despite what Articulate might say the most used products within Studio are Presenter and Quizmaker. Mimic – Create video demos and tutorials. Move it around, cut and paste. Who doesn’t like that?

Currently, we use Diigo’s linkroll feature to track our community tutorials. They have all sorts of content from meeting with clients to Photoshop tips. Don’t forget to submit something for the Articulate Guru Awards. It made my life a lot easier and more productive. I’m also a big Dropbox fan. The content was gone.

One of the most common reasons elearning developers use image editors like Paint.net and Photoshop Elements is to remove backgrounds from stock images. Combine that with Articulate Studio and you have a very easy way to create interactive elearning. There are literally hundreds of PowerPoint tips and tutorials in the blog.
