I wasn’t thunderstruck, but what I was surprised at was the number of folks who had or were about to purchase the well known authoring tools in the market, Articulate, Captive and Lectora. Adobe Captivate. I’ve always found this product to be the top of the line for PowerPoint to Flash course builds. Adobe Captivate.

It works within PowerPoint so that any one who knows PPT can quickly come up to speed to create a nice looking presentation. The last content authoring tool I choose was Captivate. Captivate does a very good job of creating software simulations. I ended up selecting three of these products.

Feature sets – they have to be more than PPT to Flash or add an audio clip and video clip to the course. I loved that the background templates can match with a specific scenario, such as the healthcare one I saw with their avatars. Captivate – Overrated in my book. Ranking goes from #10 to #1.

Flash I dont actually develop a thing with Flash myself, but our designers and programmers do some fabulous stuff with it! As an instructional designer, I feel like I can design just about anything and these really smart people can do something with it in Flash. I suspect Captivate is high on your list?)

And some of the biggest motivation for me came from two pictures that were stuck in the back of the PPT that the client had previously used for webinars: The "safe" side of a fire-safe door that is performing as designed.and the devastation wreaked by a fire on the other side of that same door.

It will have checklists and templates too. More e-learning vendors than in the past, including plenty of newbies – not so much “new” per se, rather new in terms of attendance, but yeah some “new” Adobe Captivate Prime – Adobe’s LMS, to launch in August (more on that in a sec.). Good Surprises.
