The argument that you have to spend over 50K to find a sweet LMS is totally bogus. What is true is that there are plenty of awesome systems for less than 25K and even sweet systems with very nice feature sets for under 10K. Even if the product is a desktop product all you need to do is upload the course to your own web server, use the vendor’s web server or via a LMS. Yet as in the HTML5 case, online/offline synch is not able for the vast majority of learning platforms – especially in the LMS space. Let me be clear on this.

A trend that is happening in the LMS market more so than in the other e-learning markets, is the failure to follow their path of success. In 2009 and 2010, many vendors in the LMS market, tossed in items that at one time were extra fees. In some cases, I have seen fees as high as 3K per integration.

Several more of the Tier 2/Tier 3 LMS vendors also “tossed their hat in the ring” (or towards it anyway) announcing some way of publishing content so it could appear via a mobile browser on the iPhones , iPads and Android device trying to capture a few of their most “loyal fans” in learning land.
