Im just about to kickoff a new project with a manufacturing organization to produce some custom courses. Im gonna call them an "immature e-Learning organization." Michele -- youre stronger than most to turn down work, but Im sure its benefited you in the long run to NOT be affiliated with a failed project. Games are scary.

Perhaps the subject matter expert had created them?) Im not sure if the SME was reading a script, reading the notes, or just speaking from the heart. Something like 60-70% of the learners preferred the rough version, created by the expert. It makes a great impact when you have a expert speaking. So thats one version.

Another important trick is to push the client to identify what information the learner really, really needs to know *in their head at all times* and what can be punted to a job aid to be referred to as necessary. Weve taken scenario-based approaches, so the learner can sit with an expert and watch how he does his job using the software. The next project Im about to take on is going to be more of a just-in-time performance support tool.
