People find each other using the site and then connect via chat, IM, voice/Skype, etc. There are other resources, but the use of a social network to find people who can help each other learn the language is a great idea. They provide the ability to connect with other learners who are trying to learn a language.

If you define learning broadly as "the process that leads to improvement in the capacity of people '(see Illeris ) with a cognitive, emotional and social component you could say chatbots help you find the right information, and hence the cognitive component (think of the CNN bot helping you find articles). Is it not the same as Googling?

So, when I went and checked out Saba Social, Saba’s new social learning platform, I had very low expectations. Saba Social is a very solid product, that despite a few hiccups and “huh&# moments, achieves what it sets out to do, provide a user friendly social experience. I was surprised. Back to Bio.

It’s more sophisticated, but then it’s another application I’m running in parallel (what with iChat , Adium , and Skype all running, and now TweetDeck , Mail , and Firefox, before I’m working in any apps, I’ve got a lot of RAM and CPU cycles being sucked up. Tags: social.
