Im struck by why I find this topic so interesting. Rather than segregating learners by different styles where they will receive "one-dimensional instruction", we should instead create "multidimensional instruction" using a variety of activities and presentation modes. Vary activities to maintain interest and attention.

Tuesday, March 17, 2009 Video Games, Tire Swings and Learning My almost six-year old son LOVES video and computer games: Wii, Nintendo 64, computer, my iPod Touch. Had I not encouraged and required early interest in those activities it would have been a lot easier for him to just want to play SPORE all day long. I struggle with this.

Mixed visual-auditory stimuli have an underadditive effect, so that if you have to do both at the same time, total brain activation goes down. Although when it’s time to perform, it’s too late to learn and practice, a quick rehearsal or brush up on critical points or steps in a procedure can be very helpful.
