It never fails that after building an e-learning course in Storyline, someone asks if they can get a PowerPoint version of the course. There are many reasons for this request, such as using the content for face-to-face training, wanting a slide deck for subject matter experts, or creating a PDF handout out of the slides.

In this example, the images all need to be wide, but short rectangles so that I could get them about the same height as the text and squeeze them as close as possible to the button stacks in Rise 360. If you do get a budget then you can stretch your money by purchasing the lower resolution images. You don’t need print-quality images for elearning courses. I usually get my images from Fotolio or iStockphoto but there are dozens of good stock image sites. I found a bunch of business card images online.

I usually put a button in one of the corners that gives me quick access to slides. Sometimes, the button just skips the slide. Create a slide with menu links.

Images and video can be saved to the iPad easily using iTunes. The Articulate Community team uses Screenr every day. It’s great for quick hit, just-in-time learning. The way I use it with PowerPoint is to frame the window around a slide. When I want to advance the slide, I just click the page-down button.

Start by selecting the clip art image, ungrouping it, and making the customizations you need. I also like to save the new image as a.png. Grabbing the media like images, video, and audio is usually not as challenging. Another way to get the text into your slide is by reading it out loud to transcribe it and insert into your slide. PowerPoint transcribes the text and adds it to the slide. Once it’s ready, import the slides into Storyline.
