Build a master PowerPoint file that has all of the layouts you’d use. Bonus tips: PowerPoint lets you create slides of any size.

PowerPoint 2010. Starting with PowerPoint 2010, Microsoft included a feature that allows you to quickly grab a shot of any open window or do a screen clip of anything on your desktop. Grab a series of screenshots, place them on some slides, and then add hyperlinks to simulate the software like I did in this quick demo.

For my demos, I decided to stick with PowerPoint to show that if that’s all you have, then you still can do quite a bit. My word "template" consists of a few tables with color coding for audio, or software demos, etc. Courses range from 15-30 minutes each and are geared towards my clients external clients. No assessments or formal testing. Lots of software interactivity. Relentless schedule.

I like the architect comparison.I think IDs (who, btw, can be educated totally through experience, in my book) should know something about what is possible technically, but not be the developer.
