CBT Prior to online learning known then as WBT, and then the latter term of e-learning (vendors today, use it to refer to content that is online), there was CBT. Could someone create a course at said company? You could say for everyone learner or just a group of learners, you could do this for every publisher that the vendor offered.

UI and UX is HUGE, and when vendors update their learning systems, guess where they tend to focus last on? Much of the investment was upfront and only the largest companies or companies with the most compliance risk exposure could afford an LMS. LMS companies (and many software companies) were top heavy, poorly run organizations and the strong gobbled up the weak. SAP acquired SuccessFactors who had acquired Plateau.

For a system and a company worth an estimated 1B dollars, the UX for metrics should be impressive borderline unbelievable. They are not the only vendor who goes against why WBT was established in the first place but having an impact (negatively) will ensure that your data – recommendations is misleading. Why, would a system that pushes heavily around the customer education/partner training segment, acquire a vendor who does the complete opposite? If Valamis wanted to push heavy and truly commit to the CE segment, they would have acquired a vendor who has capabilities or features or even themselves plays in the CE side. That’s it.

I personally think what has hurt them in the greater market is the push by so many vendors (some of which are legit competitors) to refer to them as “traditional”, citing how long they have been around. Strategic blunder of major proportions in the acquisition of SumTotal has continued to hurt them (i.e., Skillsoft).

If you hear your learning system vendor say “we are in the performance support” business or learning, they are a TDP. Here are my favorites: Numerous vendors were unhappy that they had to pay $700 a day for Wi-Fi, that didn’t work most of the time or was slow. One vendor who spent $5,000 on their booth, thought the $700 a day fee was obscene and declined.

Vendors who have a booth would need to have disinfectant, hand sanitizers and wipes with them at all time, and rub down anyplace that someone put their hand on, on a regular basis, and not say once a day. Thus, I focused on at least 50% for Tier 5 (although the higher the better, but even today, vendors are still a work in progress on these items), 85% or higher for Tier 4, 100% Tier 3.
