I have mixed feelings about templates. On one hand templates are great because they help guide the production process and maintain consistency. On the other hand, it’s easy to become too reliant on templates. Often this forces us to use templates that don’t fit the context of the course content. They have thousands.

To avoid these issues, I use SyncToy, a free application from Microsoft to back-up my files at night. Unfortunately, Microsoft doesn’t promote the application anymore, but you can still download SyncToy from here. So last week’s news that Microsoft is bringing back free clip art was a breath of fresh, kind of. About two years ago, Microsoft got rid of clip art. The good news is Microsoft has formed a partnership with Pickit which offers a pretty big library of images. Free Clip Art via Pickit. Double-click the add-in to start it.

I don't know where this appeared from or why but it seems that Microsoft has a rapid e-learning development tool. My best guess is that this is a tool used by Microsoft itself or by one of its contracted developers, and someone suggested making it more widely available.
