Vendors will know the common ones – ADP, Workday, PeopleSoft, Oracle, SAP, Lawson and Salesforce for example. I am fully aware that learning systems could be in marketing, or sales, or product, or HR, and those folks know nothing around sound L&D or Training methodologies. The bandwagon rage are LMS vendors stating that their product/solution is optimized for tablets, specifically mentioning the iPad. Browser Agnostic. Beta, Beta, Beta. Here though is the challenge. Their product is more geared towards a human capital management system, especially with the BizX Suite. If this is something you are looking for – i.e. a HCM, then they are the ones to go with – over Cornerstone, Oracle-Taleo, SumTotal and alike. Similar thoughts are often associated with SumTotal (although they have vastly improved their UI, but they do see themselves at least from my take, and even through a Google search as a HCM, especially after the acquisition by Skillsoft), SuccessFactors, Oracle Learn, Saba, Kenexa and a few others. It can make or break any product.

A good portion of LMSs can integrate or interface with ERP solutions, such as SAP, Peoplesoft, Oracle and integrate with HRIS systems. A good vendor will have what is sort of called a “sniffer&# , whereas the solution can identify whether it is a Blackberry or Iphone or whatever and automatically switch to the appropriate product.

I am sorry to say this, but if you have multiple products and one is cloud-based but the main tool is desktop based, this does not qualify your authoring tool as SaaS. Next Taleo got bought by Oracle. Product is garbage. There are exceptions (i.e. those who have/adding analytical data as an option), but it is rare. .

Between the two systems, I am leaning more towards LMS365, just because I honestly believe it has a future in the SharePoint space much more so than their other product (nothing against it, but…). I’m not sure why they “appear” as separate products on their site. Oracle Taleo. Cornerstone OnDemand.
