Speaking of the guru awards, I was looking at the source files for the CPR demo and was impressed to see that it only contained twenty PowerPoint slides. For the most part it’s all PowerPoint. The first slide is a Flash animation and the CPR simulation was created in Quizmaker ‘09. But that’s not the case.

Storyline is a desktop authoring tool which Articulate would probably position alongside their current Studio suite of Presenter, QuizMaker and Engage, but for me this is definitely a replacement. But for me the PowerPoint add-in approach to authoring is an uncomfortable compromise.

PowerPoint can be uploaded. Despite what Articulate might say the most used products within Studio are Presenter and Quizmaker. Studio has always been known for the PowerPoint to Flash approach, but it also includes audio narration, TOC (yeah!) HTML5 support with PowerPoint (available only to ASA and Subscription customers).

Articulate Studio (Presenter, Engage, and Quizmaker). Because Articulate Presenter is a Microsoft PowerPoint plug-in, you get the benefit of PowerPoint’s Compress Pictures function. The further right you move the sliders, the less compression you’re using, and the higher the quality (and larger the file size) you get.
