Examples of eLearning 2.0

Clark Quinn

During my presentation last Thursday that was an introduction to eLearning 2.0 as part of an online event for the eLearningGuild, I mentioned a few common ways that I've seen eLearning 2.0 I always suggest people shouldn't try to come up with a big eLearning 2.0

Learning Organizations, eLearning 2.0 and Edupunk

Clark Quinn

Janet juxtaposes the recent inclusion of eLearning 2.0 type tools in Learning Management Systems against the philosophy that corporate and commercial is evil of the edupunkers. The questions she raises are: Is the edupunk ideology saying that the use of social media in commercial learning management systems is an assault on the very philosophy of learning 2.0? If you're a trainer embracing learning 2.0, This will benefit the corporation and the individual

eLearning 2.0 Presentation - ISPI Los Angeles

Tony Karrer

I had a great time this Saturday presenting to ISPI Los Angeles on eLearning 2.0. Oh, and if you are interested in this topic, I will be presenting a slightly different take on it this Thursday at a Free Online Conference - Corporate Learning: Trends and Innovations. If this topic is of interest, then I would suggest also referring to: What is eLearning 2.0? Learning and Networking with a Blog (Deleted Scenes) Understanding eLearning 2.0 and 2.0

eLearning 2.0 - An Immediate, Important Shift

Tony Karrer

I just finished reading a blog post on Read/Write Web - eLearning 2.0 - All You Need to Know. I'm a big believer in eLearning 2.0 and it's interesting to R/WW's take on eLearning 2.0. As you read through the post, you really don't get any sense for what eLearning 2.0 They talk about things like Nuuvo (more or less an LMS), Google Apps (online applications) as examples of eLearning 2.0 At the end of the day, eLearning 2.0

Web 2.0 Corporate Access

Clark Quinn

I’ve been working with Steve Wexler and the eLearningGuild on the eLearning 2.0 This is resulting in some pretty interesting data such as the Web 2.0 Tools Used in corporations. One of the comments I received on Network Effects - YouTube - Video Blogs and More that had a video hosted on YouTube was: We see and hear more and more about corporate content published on YouTube. Corporate Policies on Web 2.0

Tony Karrer

One of the barriers commonly cited during my presentations around eLearning 2.0 (use use of Web 2.0 / social media for work and learning) is that organizations often have not established their policies or guidelines around the use of these tools. And most corporate guidelines out there around social media are fairly similar. tools as part of our eLearning 2.0

Corporate Learning Laggards?

Tony Karrer

Last week I moderated a Technology Council event on Web 2.0 There were lots of interesting things to be taken from the presentations that relate directly to what's happening in corporate learning, but one of the high level trends that made me think came from Matt Glotzbach, Head of Products at Google Enterprise. The point that Matt made was the corporate IT has gone from leading technology innovation to being a laggard that adopts after consumers.

Corporate Learning Long Tail and Attention Crisis

Tony Karrer

Adler's recent article - Minds on Fire: Open Education, the Long Tail, and Learning 2.0 The article is definitely worth a read, and it got me to finally write about what I see as a crisis in corporate learning. Impact How does this impact the world of learning organizations and corporate learning functions (training organizations)? Consider the following: Corporate learning functions today act like a publisher / distributor. John Seely Brown and Richard P.

Blogging Inside or Outside the Corporate Firewall

Tony Karrer

Stephen Downes commented on my recent post - Personal Work and Learning Environments (PWLE) - More Discussion and said - I am opposed to the trend coming from the corporate learning side of the house to treat PLEs as work tools. What is it about people in corporate learning that they feel the need to perpetuate the attitude of servitude it seems all learners must adopt. If it's captured in a system inside the corporate firewall, it won't go outside.

eLearning Guild Research: Blog and Survey

Mark Oehlert

I know that there are a lot of good people and organizations out there doing research around elearning topics right now, but I have to say that from the corporate standpoint - the eLearning Guild is really doing some great work. Saw a post by Matthew Franz - where he tells us - I don't get e-learning 2.0 - and it made me wonder if Franz is a training specialist - who's not looking at more than training as a model for learning. Is it because corporate trainers (I am one now, so I can critique them) are so backward and 2.0-illiterate? I agree with Matthew that there's nothing inherent in these tools that makes them an eLearning tool.
