Ontuitive

In our post, Your Finger’s in the Dike and the Dam’s about to Burst, Bob referred to a Gartner study that shows IT spend on new systems and applications is expected to double in 2013. That means there is a potential for your performance support project to get funded! But, in order for it to even be considered, you'll probably have to overcome some internal barriers

Museum wall of learning #edtech

Dont Waste Your Time

I may have made the title up, as this video is not about a ‘wall of learning’ but it does showcase what can be done with technology and the need/desire to share and facilitate learning. The original Mashable post was simply about the tech and the multi-touch screen. Using the museum’s ArtLens iPad app, visitors can link to the wall to add works to their own custom museum tours.”

PowerPoint 2010: Create Your Own Gauges

I Came, I Saw, I Learned

by AJ George  Want to create a speedometer-like gauge for your PowerPoint or eLearning deck? I've found gauges a creative way to illustrate anything from progress through a course or presentation to positive to negative value scales. There are some relatively easy ways to build a gauge using shapes, but one of the fastest (and easily editable) ways I've found is to use Charts.

Engagement, people!

Clark Quinn

I’m working on a project with a partner, and have this really sharp ID working with me.  My role is to be guiding the design, not doing it, and it’s working well. The thing I see, however, is emblematic of what I’m seeing much more broadly: the dissociation between the designer and the learning experience. Ok, so not many ID theorists are talking about the emotional engagement. Keller and his ARCS model is really the only one. And some folks are touting it for elearning. Yet somehow the message isn’t getting through. So overwritten. Until they can’t get it wrong.

Bullets are Bad, Questions are Good

Learning Developments

Over the years I've encountered several courses about how to write good e-mails. They have all come to me in the same way -- a list of dos and don'ts. Frankly, it's not the way to describe it in a face-to-face setting and especially a bad idea in e-learning. Bulleted lists turn learners into zombies. So the list comes in looking something like this: Use correct spelling. Use correct capitalization.

16. Only now do we concern ourselves with technologies

Onlignment

In this series of posts (first post here ), I describe a simple process for designing blended solutions that are both efficient and effective. This process has three stages: (1) analysing the unique characteristics of the situation in which the solution is to be deployed; (2) selecting the right blend of methods to meet the needs of the situation; and (3) determining the delivery media best suited to these methods. It is to this final stage that we now turn. Only now do we concern ourselves with technologies. Thomas L. Needless to say, real-life is not quite that simple. Blog blending

Learning Rocks

In his latest post on our weelearning website , Sam Burrough explains why we are encouraging everyone to pick up on our idea and go with it: If you’re lucky enough to be heading to this week’s Learning Technologies Conference or Exhibition , one thing is guaranteed, you’re going to meet a lot of cool, interesting people. You may even end up down the pub with one or two of them, especially if you’re going to Curation Camp. You’ll probably think to yourself, wistfully on the way home, “ah, I wish I could do that more often.” So well in fact, we want to share the idea with you.

Creating Your First Association eLearning Course

Association eLearning

After selecting a learning management system (LMS), the next logical step for an association is to begin creating your course catalog. But for many associations, creating online learning courses is uncharted territory, especially if this is a brand new course. To be successful, a course should help the learner acquire the skills and knowledge they truly need. What is the Skills Gap? Tweet This!

Evaluating Training - Capturing the Benefits Aspects of ROI

Training evaluation is necessary and, in many ways, critical to the success of a business. But because short term priorities always seem to take precedence, it is typically something we plan to do better in the next course, or maybe next month, or even next year. After all, we’ve managed pretty well up to now, so surely another year can’t hurt!
